According to a statement from the Danish armed forces, an Fennec helicopter from the air force was targeted with flares during a routine photographic operation of a Russian frigate located in international waters. One of the two flares fired at the helicopter reportedly passed in close proximity. The Danish Foreign Ministry deemed the incident "completely unacceptable," with Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen accusing Russia of "gradually shifting the boundary for what they consider acceptable behaviour."

The Lithuanian national crisis management center stated the drone's origins were yet to be determined, though the country's president pointed to increased Russian aggression in recent months.
